Exact-display lookup

Error code and warning resolver: enter exactly what the product displays.

Enter the error code or warning exactly as the product displays it, and include the brand and complete model when possible. The resolver tolerates spaces, punctuation and common O/0 or I/1 misreads, but it never assigns another product’s meaning to an unknown code.

Safety override

Smoke, fuel odor, wet electrical parts and damaged lithium batteries override lookup results. Stop conditions appear before diagnosis.

Reading the error code or warning your device is showing

Copy the code exactly as it appears, including dashes, capital letters and any leading zero. A letter O and a zero, or a lowercase l and a one, look alike on many displays, and codes such as F0 and FO are different things. If the display flashes a pattern instead of a code, count the flashes in each group and note the pause between groups, because the legend counts them the same way.

Say which kind of product it is before you choose a brand. The same two characters can mean a drain fault on a washer and a sensor fault on an oven, so the product type narrows the answer more than the code does. The model number on the data label is the next thing to have to hand, since a manufacturer often has more than one code table and the model says which one applies.

Consumer codes are usually shown on a display, in an app or as a light pattern. Appliance and thermostat displays carry letter-and-number codes, game consoles carry long codes in two groups, printers show a short message or a light pattern, and smoke and carbon monoxide alarms signal with chirps. Each has its own library on this site, and the blinking-light page explains how to record a pattern before you restart anything.

If the lookup finds nothing, do not borrow a meaning from a similar-looking code on another brand. Search the brand's library, check the spelling of the code and try the model's family page. A code that is not in the maker's published table cannot be interpreted safely, and the answer is to contact the maker with the model number and the exact display.
