What is true of this model and changes how you fix it
These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.
- Type — CORDED upright (no battery)
- A CORDED upright — mains-powered, so no battery/runtime applies. Strong constant suction with DuoClean (a dual brushroll for carpet and hard floors) and Shark's anti-odour/anti-hair-wrap features.
- Brushroll & hair wrap
- The brushroll is Shark's anti-hair-wrap design, but a roller that stops spinning is still usually hair or thread wrapped at the ends, or the thermal cut-out after a jam. Clear the roller and the head; if it stopped abruptly with a smell, let it cool (thermal reset).
- Filter & airway
- Washable foam/felt filters and a HEPA filter — wash per the schedule and dry fully; a clogged filter kills suction. Clear the wand, hose and head for 'no suction'.

Questions that only have an answer for the Shark Stratos upright vacuum
Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.
My Shark Stratos brushroll stopped spinning.+
Even on an anti-hair-wrap Shark, a roller that stops is usually hair or thread wound at the ends or a jam that tripped the brushroll's protection. Unplug it, remove the brushroll or open the base per the manual, and clear all wrapped debris including under the end caps. If it stopped suddenly with a burning-rubber smell, the motor overheated on a jam — clear it and let it cool to reset. Confirm the brushroll switch/floor mode is set to a carpet/brush setting.
