What is true of this model and changes how you fix it
These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.
- Type — UltraFast all-in-one washer + ventless heat-pump DRYER
- The PFQ97 is a 4.8 cu. ft. all-in-one that washes AND dries in one drum with a ventless inverter HEAT-PUMP dryer — no vent, runs on a standard 120V outlet. So a 'not drying' complaint is the heat-pump and its lint/condenser path, not a vent, and it dries at lower heat so clothes come out warm-dry, not hot.
- Ventless drying & lint filter
- It has an EZ-Access lint filter AND a condenser/heat-exchanger that both need cleaning; a gradually poorer dry is usually a clogged filter or condenser rather than a failed heater. Do not overload — a full wash load is often too much to dry well in one go, so it may need less than a full load for a complete dry.
- Smart & dispense
- SmartDispense bulk auto-dosing, Dynamic Balancing, and Wi-Fi (SmartHQ). Washes and dries a load in about 90 minutes without transfer.

Questions that only have an answer for the GE Profile UltraFast PFQ97 washer/dryer
Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.
My GE Profile UltraFast Combo washes but clothes are still damp.+
The UltraFast is a ventless heat-pump combo, so damp results are almost always maintenance or loading, not a broken heater. Clean the EZ-Access lint filter every load and the condenser per the manual — a clogged filter or condenser is the top cause. Do not fill it to the maximum wash capacity if you want a full dry; heat-pump drying needs room to tumble and runs cooler and slower than a vented dryer, so smaller loads dry completely.
