Sonos home speakers and soundbars will not group, sync or play in multiple rooms

Sonos home speakers and soundbars (Arc Ultra, Arc, Beam Gen 2, Ray, Era 300, Era 100, Sub Gen 3 and Sub Mini) will not group, sync or play in multiple rooms: individual speaker playback, same network/account, group membership and wireless capacity should be isolated. Scoped to Arc Ultra, with the Arc, Beam Gen 2, Ray, Era 300, Era 100, Sub Gen 3 and Sub Mini in the model notes.

Sonos's grouping article explains the two ways to group. Press and hold the Play/Pause button on any product to group it with another room that is playing, and press and hold it again to remove it. In the Sonos app choose the Grouping icon in the Now Playing bar (or the down arrow beside Play), tick or untick rooms, and select Apply; with three or more products you can choose Everywhere, and saved groups appear there. You can change the volume of the whole group or each room from the volume slider. A group is not the same as a zone, which is a permanent grouping for one room.

If a portable product will not group, Sonos says a Move or Roam connected to a different system shows in the app but cannot group with your other rooms because it has not been added to that system; it must be factory reset and added as a new product, and reset again to return home. S1 and S2 products cannot group together. TV audio can stop or skip if other rooms are grouped with a soundbar, which the group audio delay setting addresses. Music services with single-stream limits cannot play to two systems at once.

Sonos's stereo pair feature bonds two same-model speakers into one room, supported on the Era 100, Era 100 Pro, Era 100 SL and Era 300 among others; grouping is a separate feature.
