Which units this covers, and how to tell yours is one of them
Every answer below is scoped to these model identifiers. A neighbouring model in the same line can use a different part, a different reset sequence or a different radio, so matching the identifier before following a procedure is the step that decides whether the rest of the page applies to you.

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it
These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.
- Type — ultraportable battery speaker (WiFi + BT)
- The smallest, most portable Sonos — battery-powered, works on WiFi at home and Bluetooth away, waterproof. Both battery symptoms and Sonos WiFi symptoms apply; its small size means shorter runtime than a Move by design.
- WiFi vs Bluetooth
- On WiFi it is a full Sonos speaker (app/grouping); on Bluetooth it is a standalone portable. The Roam 2 (unlike the original) has a dedicated Bluetooth button for easier switching.
- Charging
- Charges by USB-C or an optional wireless charger; if it starts low, it is not being charged fully between uses.
- Power path
- Internal or removable battery. Every capability that costs current — night vision, higher stream quality, longer recordings, frequent events — is paid for in runtime, so a change in behaviour after a settings change is usually a power consequence rather than a fault. Cold weather reduces usable capacity sharply.

Questions that only have an answer for the Sonos Roam 2 speaker
Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.
My Sonos Roam 2 keeps switching between WiFi and Bluetooth.+
The Roam moves between your WiFi (at home) and Bluetooth (away), and it can flip if the WiFi signal is weak where you are using it. Use the dedicated Bluetooth button to lock it to Bluetooth when away from a strong network, and keep it in WiFi range at home for full Sonos features. If it drops off WiFi at home, that is a network/signal issue for that spot rather than a speaker fault.
Structured depth, not empty permutations
Every published record carries a direct answer, scope, ordered fixes, risk notes and sources.
