ADT cameras and doorbell camera notifications are late, missing or excessive

ADT cameras and doorbell camera (Indoor, Outdoor and Doorbell) notifications are late, missing or excessive: event capture, cloud processing, phone permission, Focus/background rules and alert zones are separate layers. Scoped to VMC3060-1ADNAS.

ADT's Alert Not Received article covers cameras directly: in the ADT+ app or portal open the main menu, Notifications, then Cameras, and for the camera in question make sure notifications are on and that the event types you want, Animal, Motion, Package and so on, are enabled. Then verify your notification method in My Profile, Notification Methods, check your notification email and phone number and allow push notifications for the ADT+ app in your phone's settings for Android or iOS.

The checks in more detail

If you still receive nothing, contact ADT chat. Camera alerts also need the camera online with battery, so check its LED and wifi, and the camera must see the area, since motion in blocked areas will not trigger alerts. The indoor camera's privacy shield closes when inactive, which stops detection. If alerts are too many, turn off event types you do not need or adjust the view.

Object detection for person, package and vehicle depends on the plan. Update the app. Keep push, SMS or email on for the ones you rely on. Trigger a test by walking into the scene and watch each alert method separately. If one phone gets alerts and another does not, the fault is that phone. Tell each adult which cameras alert.

Event types are chosen per camera, so a doorbell may need Package alerts on while an indoor camera needs Animal off, and setting them together is a common mistake. Push, SMS and email are separate switches, so a camera alert that arrives by email but not by push is a phone permission problem, not a camera one. Ask each person who should receive alerts to check their own My Profile settings, since alerts follow each user's own notification method and not the account owner's.
