What works with a Samsung TV
Samsung TVs work with AirPlay on supported models, with SmartThings, Alexa and Google Assistant, and with Bluetooth audio devices. Check the TV's model year first: AirPlay and some Smart Hub features are limited to certain years, and Settings, Support, About This TV shows the model code. The Apple device and the TV must be on the same network, and an older TV may need a firmware update before the feature appears.
Compatibility on a Samsung TV depends on three things: the model year, the port and the protocol. AirPlay and Apple's TV app work on supported models and need the Apple device and the TV on the same network, the HDMI inputs differ in what they support, and only the port marked for eARC will carry lossless sound to a soundbar. Region matters, too, since features can differ by country.
Check the TV's model code under Settings, Support, About This TV, then the Samsung support page for that model. If a feature is not listed for your model, a firmware update may add it, or the feature may never arrive on that year's TV.
Does my Samsung TV support AirPlay?
Many recent models do. Check the model code against Samsung's list and update the TV's software.
