Then try the freezer and the door frame

Is the filter number the same as the refrigerator model number?+
No. The water filter has its own part number and it is printed on the filter. The refrigerator's model number is on the cabinet label.
Do I need the serial number when ordering a part?+
Sometimes. If a part changed part-way through the production run, the serial range decides which one fits, so keep both numbers.
What if the label is worn off?+
Look for a sticker in the manual, on the box or in the purchase invoice, or look up the serial on the maker's site. As a last resort, note the door configuration, the brand and the approximate age and ask the maker.
Is there a label on the outside of a Samsung refrigerator?+
