Almost every fix depends on the exact model, and the model number is on a label whose position depends on the product. Dishwashers carry it on the inside edge of the door or the side of the tub, refrigerators on the inside wall of the fresh-food compartment, ranges and ovens on the frame behind the door or the edge of the oven, and washers and dryers on the door frame, the back or inside the lid. Furnaces and air handlers have a data plate inside the access panel, and printers have it on the back or underneath.
Copy the whole number, including letters and any suffix, because a single character can change the platform. Serial numbers are different: they tell you the age and the build, and they are best kept private. A photograph of the label is the safest way to keep the number. On phones, tablets and computers the model name is in the settings, usually under About.
Where is the model number on a refrigerator?
Usually on the inside wall of the fresh-food section, or on the ceiling or the door edge, on a sticker with the serial number.
Is the serial number the same as the model number?
No. The model number names the product design, and the serial number identifies the individual unit and its date of manufacture.
