LG refrigerator lights or display do not work

LG refrigerator lights or display do not work: door switches, Sabbath/display modes and one failed light module should be separated from total power loss. Scoped to LRMVS3006*.

A dark display on the LG LRMVS3006 is often a setting, not a fault. LG's manual says the display stays off in Power Saving Mode until a door is opened or a button is pressed and then stays on for 20 seconds; Display Mode shows OFF and disables cooling; and Sabbath mode (sb) turns off lights and buttons on models that have it. The Lock function also disables every other button. Interior LED lamp failures are a technician repair, and the door lights depend on a proximity sensor.

Try in this order

0 of 5 completed
  1. Wake the display

    Reversible

Open a door or press a button. LG says in Power Saving Mode the display stays off until then, and once on it remains on for 20 seconds.

  2. Check for OFF, sb or a lock

    Reversible

OFF means Display Mode, sb means Sabbath mode and a lock icon means the Lock function is on, and each has its own button combination in the manual.

  3. Unlock the panel

    Reversible

Press and hold the Lock button for about three seconds. LG says the function disables every other button on the display, and that it is off when power is first connected.

  4. Check the door lights

    Reversible

LG says the LED door lighting relies on a proximity sensor in the center of the door that needs to detect a person, and reflective flooring can stop it working. It may take 30 seconds to work after installation.

  5. Call for interior lamp faults

    Reversible

LG says the interior LED lamp is not a customer replacement and service should be performed by a qualified technician. Do not try to open the lamp cover.
