Published specification

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it

These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.

Type — ROBOT vacuum + MOP
A ROBOT that BOTH vacuums and mops — it has a retractable mop pad arm that lifts up and over the robot on carpet (so it never drags a wet pad onto carpet) and lowers on hard floors. So it has both vacuum symptoms (brushes, bin) AND mop symptoms (water tank, pad).
Mopping
Fill the water tank and fit a clean pad for mopping; 'not mopping/streaking' is usually an empty tank, a dirty/dry pad, or the mop arm not deploying (it stays retracted on carpet by design). It uses plain water or iRobot-approved solution only.
Docking, brushes & sensors
Charges at its dock (Clean Base self-empty on the Combo j7+ handles dry debris, not the water); clear hair from brushes/wheels and wipe sensors if it gets stuck.

Questions that only have an answer for the iRobot Roomba Combo j7+

Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.

My Roomba Combo j7 vacuums but isn't mopping.+

Check three things: the water tank is filled, a clean damp mop pad is fitted, and the floor is set as a mopping/hard-floor area in the app. The retractable mop arm deliberately stays lifted (dry) on carpet so it does not wet it, so it will only mop where the map says hard floor. Streaking usually means a dirty or dry pad — rinse or replace it and refill the tank. Use only plain water or the approved solution, never other cleaners.
