What is true of this model and changes how you fix it
- Type — ROBOT vacuumA ROBOT vacuum with Imprint smart mapping (learns and saves room maps for targeted cleaning) — symptoms are navigation, docking and brushes. The i7+ adds a Clean Base self-empty dock; the plain i7 empties its onboard bin.
- Docking & (on +) self-empty'Won't dock/charge' is dirty contacts, a moved/unplugged dock, or blocked clearance. On the i7+, 'won't empty' is a full Clean Base bag or clogged path.
- Brushes, wheels & sensorsTwo rubber brushrolls, side brush, wheels and sensors — clear hair and wipe sensors if it gets stuck or misses areas. If room-by-room cleaning stops working, the saved map may need re-learning in the app.
- Light ringWhite is charged (pulsing while charging), blue is seeking the station, spot cleaning or dirt detect, and red with an audio alert means something is wrong, including a full bin.
- Power offHold the power button for 10 seconds.
- Dual Mode Virtual WallA linear barrier that blocks openings up to 10 feet, or a circular Halo mode of about 12 inches.
- RadiosThe two regulatory models list 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands.
- Smart Maps and the appThe i7 builds a map as it cleans, so after a few runs you can name rooms and set keep-out zones in the iRobot app. A robot that no longer follows a room order has usually lost its map after a reset or a move, and a short run of mapping cycles rebuilds it.
- Where it gets stuckCharging cables, socks and the fringe of rugs are the usual traps for a robot of this kind. Pick up cables before a run, and use a keep-out zone for the edge of a rug the robot keeps climbing, since repeated stalls wear the wheel modules.
- Brushes and the binTwo rubber brushes lift hair without tangling as much as bristles do, but hair still wraps the ends. Pull the brushes out each week, cut the hair away with scissors and empty the bin before it fills, because a full bin lowers suction and ends a run early.

My Roomba i7 stopped cleaning specific rooms on command.+
Room-by-room cleaning relies on the saved Imprint map, so if the home changed (furniture moved, a new area) or the map got corrupted, targeted cleaning can fail. In the app, check the map is intact and the rooms are labeled; you may need to re-run a mapping/training run so it relearns the layout. Also make sure it starts from its home dock, since it orients from there. Clear the brushes and wheels if it is also getting physically stuck.
