HP laptops external monitor is not detected or uses the wrong resolution

HP laptops (Spectre, ENVY, Pavilion Plus, OmniBook, EliteBook, ProBook, Victus and OMEN) external monitor is not detected or uses the wrong resolution: port capability, adapter/cable, display input, driver and bandwidth must align. Scoped to Spectre x360 14-eu, ENVY x360 14-fa, Pavilion Plus 14-ey, OmniBook Ultra 14, EliteBook 840 G11, ProBook 440 G11, Victus 16-r and OMEN Transcend 14.

If an external monitor does not work with the HP Spectre x360 14, connect it through a USB-C or Thunderbolt port that supports video, with a cable rated for it, and press Windows plus P to choose Duplicate or Extend. Check Settings, System, Display, Detect, and update the graphics driver through HP Support Assistant. A USB-C to HDMI adapter must support the resolution; for 4K at 60 Hz you need HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort. If the monitor works on another computer, the cable and monitor are fine and the Spectre's port or driver is the issue.
