Fisher and Paykel DishDrawer codes

The DishDrawer shows a fault by flashing the lights on the control panel, and the number of flashes gives the code. Each drawer is a separate unit, so a fault in one drawer may leave the other working. The commonest causes are water supply, a blocked filter and a drawer that is not closed fully.

Switch the dishwasher off at the power point for a minute, clean the filter in the drawer and check the water tap. A code that returns needs a Fisher and Paykel service agent with the model and serial number.

The DishDrawer's unusual design means that it can be installed as a single or a double unit and may be built into cabinetry at different heights. The model number on the label shows which version you have. Clean the drain filter regularly and keep an eye on the spray arm, since a drawer that is overloaded can foul the arm. A drawer that will not run may have a safety switch that is not registering the drawer as closed, so check that nothing is wedged in the runners.

The DishDrawer is a dishwasher in a drawer, sold as a single or as a double, with each drawer working on its own. A double unit may show a code for one drawer while the other works, so say which drawer in your description. The design means that some faults are specific to it: a drawer that does not close squarely, a drawer's slides or the seal at the front. Check these before you suspect the electronics.

A DishDrawer's filter sits at the bottom of the drawer and collects food. Remove and rinse it every few weeks, and check the spray arm for blocked holes. Load the drawer to leave room for the arm to turn and for the drawer to close, and do not stack items above the rim. If a drawer will not run, look for a utensil sticking out and check that the drawer's lid latch engages.

Because the machine is small, a heavy load of pots and pans may need two cycles. Use detergent in the amount that the manual states, since too much makes suds that cause drain codes. Rinse aid helps drying on a drawer, which dries by retained heat. Fisher & Paykel's service network handles repairs, and the model and serial are on a label inside the drawer.

Why does only one DishDrawer show a fault?

Each drawer has its own controls and sensors, so a fault may affect one drawer only.

Why won't the drawer start?

A safety switch may not see the drawer closed.
