On the covered Sensi smart thermostat, E5 (ES) Call for Service means an internal protector in the thermostat's power supply has tripped, and the thermostat may no longer control the temperature effectively. Sensi says the temperature setting in the app may deviate from your desired indoor temperature by as much as 10 degrees Fahrenheit. First, contact Sensi Technical Support right away.

Correct only the documented fault domain
ReversibleSensi says to contact Sensi Technical Support immediately. It says you can temporarily disable the E5 message on the display by disconnecting the C wire: turn off power to the heating and cooling equipment, remove the thermostat cover, disconnect the wire from the C terminal and connect it to the L terminal (or tape it to the wall plate if the L terminal is used, keeping it away from other wires). Doing this disables Wi-Fi, so the app cannot change the temperature remotely, but the thermostat keeps controlling the temperature. Sensi says to contact support even if you disable the message.
