4 complete records in this directorySensi smart thermostat app error while connecting: meaning and exact next steps
app error while connecting means Sensi's manual lists app errors during setup: cannot create a secure connection or unable to connect to the Sensi network, cannot connect to Sensi in Wi-Fi settings, provisioning error, configuration error, authentication error and network scan error.
Open record Sensi smart thermostat · exact signalSensi smart thermostat Call for Service with a wire in the L terminal: meaning and exact next steps
Call for Service with a wire in the L terminal means If there is voltage on the L wire, the diagnostic terminal, Sensi says the thermostat displays Call for Service. Sensi is explicit that the L wire is not needed for normal thermostat operation, which is why disconnecting it is the first troubleshooting step rather than a workaround: nothing the thermostat controls depends on that terminal carrying a signal.
Open record Sensi smart thermostat · exact signalSensi smart thermostat E5 (ES) Call for Service: meaning and exact next steps
E5 (ES) Call for Service means An internal protector in the thermostat's power supply has tripped, and the thermostat may no longer control the temperature effectively. Sensi says the temperature setting in the app may deviate from your desired indoor temperature by as much as 10 degrees Fahrenheit.
Open record Sensi smart thermostat · exact signalSensi smart thermostat temperature reading of 99F, dashes or humidity of 255%: meaning and exact next steps
temperature reading of 99F, dashes or humidity of 255% means Sensi says a temperature reading of 99F or more, only dashes for the room temperature, or a humidity reading of 255% likely means a problem with the internal sensor.
Open recordWhat a Sensi thermostat is telling you
A Sensi thermostat, made by Copeland, shows very few codes, and most of them point back at power and wiring rather than at the thermostat's own logic. The messages people search for are Call for Service, the E5 alert and its ES form, an app that will not connect during setup, and a temperature reading of 99F or humidity of 255 percent. Each has a different cause, so read the screen text exactly before you change anything.
Call for Service with a wire in the L terminal is the one that surprises installers. The L terminal is a diagnostic input for a heat pump fault signal, and Sensi says a wire there carrying voltage makes the thermostat show the message even though the L wire is not needed for normal operation. Pulling that wire back into the wall and remounting the thermostat is the documented first step.
E5, also shown as ES, means a protector inside the thermostat's power supply has tripped. A power surge, such as a lightning storm, and wiring that was connected wrongly during installation are the causes Sensi names. The thermostat may stop controlling the temperature properly while the alert is on, so contact Sensi support instead of leaving it on a long run.
A temperature of 99F or more, dashes in place of the room temperature, or a humidity reading of 255 percent points at the internal sensor. Setup failures in the app, such as being unable to connect to the Sensi network or an authentication error, are usually Wi-Fi band, password or router issues; the app errors page lists the exact wording.
Why does my Sensi say Call for Service?
If the L terminal has a wire carrying voltage, the thermostat shows Call for Service. The L wire is not needed for normal operation, so remove it and remount the thermostat.
What does E5 mean on a Sensi thermostat?
An internal protector in the thermostat's power supply tripped, often after a power surge or from wiring done wrongly, and the thermostat may no longer control temperature.
What causes a 99F or 255 percent reading?
Sensi says that points at a problem with the internal sensor, so the reading is not real.
