Trane XR95 direct vent condensing gas furnace code 2-flashes-system-lockout
System lockout: retries or recycles were exceeded.
Note whether the furnace tried to light more than once and then stopped.
A lockout usually follows repeated failures to establish or keep flame, so the cause is a technician's to find.
Trane XR95 direct vent condensing gas furnace code 3-flashes-draft-pressure-error
Draft pressure error. Trane lists the possible problems as a venting problem, a pressure switch problem or an inducer problem.
Look outside for a blocked intake or exhaust pipe termination, such as snow, leaves or a nest.
Trane's table names the three possible problems and gives no repair steps. The outside vent check is the safe one, and the pressure switch and inducer belong to a technician.
Trane XR95 direct vent condensing gas furnace code 4-flashes-open-high-limit
Open high limit device.
Check that the air filter is clean and the supply and return registers are open.
A filter and registers are general first checks that need no tools; the limit device itself belongs to a technician.
Trane XR95 direct vent condensing gas furnace code 6-flashes-reversed-power-or-poor-grounding
115 volt AC power reversed, or poor grounding.
Note whether any wiring work or a power-outlet change happened recently.
Polarity and grounding are line-voltage work for a licensed technician.
Trane XR95 direct vent condensing gas furnace code 7-flashes-gas-valve-circuit-error
Gas valve circuit error.
Note whether the burners ever light.
The gas valve circuit belongs to a licensed technician.
Trane XR95 direct vent condensing gas furnace code 8-flashes-low-flame-sense-signal
Low flame sense signal.
Note whether the burners light and then shut off.
A weak flame signal is a flame-sensing problem, and testing or cleaning the sensor is technician work.
Trane XR95 direct vent condensing gas furnace code 9-flashes-igniter-circuit-or-grounding
Check the igniter circuit and the line N to 24 VAC common voltage, which should be under 2 volts. Trane adds that this is a possible grounding problem.
Note whether the hot surface igniter glows when the furnace starts.
Trane's table gives the meaning and the two checks, both of which need a meter. That is technician work.
Trane XR95 direct vent condensing gas furnace code continuous-off-led-check-power
No power to the integrated furnace control.
Check that the furnace's power switch is on and that the breaker has not tripped.
Trane's table says to check power. Anything past the switch and breaker is line-voltage work for a technician.
Trane XR95 direct vent condensing gas furnace code continuous-on-led-replace-control
The integrated furnace control needs to be replaced.
Turn the furnace's power off at the switch for a minute and back on, and note whether the LED comes back steady.
Trane's table says to replace the integrated furnace control for a continuously lit LED. A control board is not a homeowner repair.
Trane XR95 direct vent condensing gas furnace code fast-flashing-led-normal
Normal: call for heat.
Note that the thermostat is calling for heat.
Trane lists a fast flash as normal with a call for heat. Wait through the start-up sequence before treating it as a fault.

Trane XR95 furnace flash codes
The XR95 reports a fault by flashing an LED on the control board, and the flash count and color tell you which safety circuit stopped the furnace. The legend is on a label inside the blower door, so count the flashes carefully, more than once. Many codes involve the pressure switch, which proves the exhaust is venting, the flame sensor, the ignition and the limit switch that guards against overheating.
The safe checks are the ordinary ones: replace a dirty filter, make sure the supply and return vents are open, check that the condensate drain is not clogged or frozen and that the outdoor vent pipes are clear of snow and debris. A condensing furnace sends its exhaust through plastic pipes that can ice up in cold weather. Do not bypass any safety switch. If a code returns after the safe checks, call a licensed technician with the code and the model and serial number.
The XR95 is a high-efficiency furnace that exhausts through a plastic pipe and drains condensate, so the checks outside the cabinet are the most useful ones for an owner. Look at the exhaust and intake terminations after snow or leaf fall, check that the condensate line slopes downhill and is not frozen and make sure that the filter is clean. Write down the flash pattern and the time of day when it appears. Trane's dealers can read the control's fault history, which often shows a pattern that the single code does not.
Where is the flash code legend on a Trane furnace?
On a label inside the blower door, which you can open once the power is off.
Why would a condensing furnace lock out in winter?
Ice or snow can block the vent pipes or the condensate drain, which trips the pressure switch.
What can the control's history show?
A technician can read earlier faults that point to the real cause.
