eero setup is app-led. The LED tells you the stage: solid blue means ready for setup, flashing blue means Bluetooth pairing, flashing white means connecting and solid white means online. In the eero app, follow the setup flow and connect the gateway eero by Ethernet to the modem or ONT. eero 6 and newer support eero Simple Setup, which connects, updates and integrates new devices that you connect by Ethernet. If the app says Cannot connect to the internet, follow the offline steps: power cycle the modem for 3 minutes and restart the gateway.
Some providers need ISP settings: DHCP by default, or static IP, PPPoE or an uplink VLAN tag, entered under Settings, ISP Settings. If you have a modem and router combo, put the combo in bridge mode when it offers it;
The checks in more detail
if not, turn off wifi on the provider's equipment. If setup is stuck on looking for devices, hard reset the eero: hold the reset button until the LED flashes red, about 15 seconds, and it then flashes blue, ready for setup. After setup, tap Update now when the blue prompt appears and place additional eeros 20 to 30 feet apart. Set the guest network and profiles later. Keep the setup phone close to the eero, sign in with the email account you want to own the network, and do not skip the update prompt after setup.
Plan the layout before you start: decide which eero is the gateway, where extra eeros go and whether any will be wired, so the first setup does not need redoing. Setup works best when the modem has been restarted first.
