• Finding the data plate
  Bosch dishwashers have a data plate on the inside edge of the door or on the tub frame with the model (SHS code) and the FD manufacturing number. Bosch service needs both, so note them. The plate is easy to read with the door open and the lower rack pulled out.
• Looking after the filter
  A Bosch dishwasher has a self-cleaning filter system, but you should still lift out the cylindrical filter and the flat mesh filter now and then and rinse them. A clean filter keeps the spray strong and avoids smells.
• Rinse aid and salt
  Bosch recommends rinse aid for the best drying, and, in hard water, dishwasher salt for models with a water softener. The display shows a refill light. Keeping both topped up avoids white film on glasses.
• Cycles and drying
  Bosch dishwashers use a condensation drying method, which relies on the hot final rinse and on rinse aid, so dishes may feel slightly damp on plastics. Choose Auto for mixed loads, Eco for the lowest energy and Intensive for baked-on pots. Leaving the door ajar after the cycle lets steam out.
• Troubleshooting order
  If dishes come out dirty, check the spray arms and filters first, then the loading and then the detergent. If the dishwasher does not drain, check the drain hose, the air gap and the disposer knockout plug, which new installations sometimes forget to remove.
