Samsung dryer will not start

Samsung dryer will not start: prove power, door switch, control lock and the Start-button hold behavior before internal repair. Scoped to DVE45T6000*.

If the Samsung DVE45T6000 will not start a cycle, check the button rather than the machine. Start/Pause is labeled Hold to Start, so a tap does nothing; press and hold. If the door was opened mid-cycle, press it again. Then check the door latch, the power cord and the breaker, and look for the Child Lock indicator, which disables every button except Power. dC means the door is open and 9C1 means an abnormal voltage was detected.

Try in this order

0 of 5 completed
  1. Press and hold Start/Pause

    Reversible

Turn the Cycle Selector to the cycle you want and hold Start/Pause (Hold to Start) for a couple of seconds. The manual says to press and hold to start or press to stop operation.

  2. Check Child Lock

    Reversible

Look for the Child Lock indicator. If it is lit, hold Dryness and Temp. together for 3 seconds to turn Child Lock off. The manual says it stays active after you restart the dryer.

  3. Latch the door

    Reversible

Close the door firmly and make sure a sleeve or sock is not caught in the opening. dC on the display means the dryer detected an open door.

  4. Confirm power

    Reversible

Check the plug, the breakers or fuses and, on a hard-wired electric model, the connection. 9C1 means abnormal voltage was detected and Samsung says to check the power connection.

  5. Try again with a light load

    Reversible

Some cycles, such as Activewear, are limited to 4 lb. Remove excess laundry and start a Time Dry cycle to prove the dryer starts.

Model-specific
