Electrolux ELFW7637 front-load washer cycle takes too long or keeps adding time

Electrolux ELFW7637 front-load washer cycle takes too long or keeps adding time: load sensing, suds removal, heating, balancing and slow fill/drain can legitimately extend displayed time. Scoped to ELFW7637A*.

A long cycle on the Electrolux ELFW7637 often comes from the options rather than a fault. Electrolux's LED note says the estimated total time may increase if water pressure is low, oversudsing occurs or the load becomes unbalanced, and the washer's oversuds protection adds rinses until the suds are gone. Perfect Steam adds approximately 20 minutes of tumbling in steam, StainSoak and other stain options extend the wash time with extra heating, Extended Refresh adds rinse and spin segments for up to 12 hours if the load is left, Pure Rinse rinses more thoroughly, and Delay Time adds a countdown of 30 minutes to 12 hours before the wash starts.

Perfect Steam facts
Electrolux says steam may not necessarily be visible inside the drum and may not be present during the entire steam wash cycle. If steam is selected, rinse temperatures will be elevated, and steam exiting from the rear vent of the washer during a steam cycle is normal and not a cause for alarm. The steam option adds approximately 20 minutes of tumbling in steam to the cycle.
Stain options
StainSoak, on the 600 series washer, is similar to StainTreat II with the added feature of detergent and treatment mixing with the SmartBoost pump before the Stain washing phase. Some stain options extend wash time with additional heating by the boost heater, but the recirculating wash solution is not heated for blood stains, to avoid setting them, so stain choices change how long the wash runs.
