Electrolux ELFW7637 front-load washer does not clean clothes well

Electrolux ELFW7637 front-load washer does not clean clothes well: poor cleaning is usually resolved by load size, cycle, soil level, detergent, temperature and water flow before parts replacement. Scoped to ELFW7637A*.

For an Electrolux ELFW7637 that does not clean well, the manual's Common washing inquiries table lists the causes: not enough detergent, wash water temperature too low, incorrect sorting, overloading the washer, and undissolved detergent that leaves residue resembling lint. The fixes are to rewash with the correct amount of detergent and the hottest water safe for the fabric, add bleach safe for the fabric, reduce the load, and use a non-precipitating water conditioner or liquid detergent. The washer's own options can help: LuxCare Plus Wash and SmartBoost mix detergent and treatment, StainSoak and the stain options target soils, Pure Rinse reduces residues and Extra Rinse rinses more.

Model-specific

What is true of this model and not of its siblings

Stain options
The stain options on the ELFW7637 include Any Stain, Blood and Chocolate: the recirculating wash solution is not heated by the boost heater for blood, to prevent setting blood stains, and for chocolate the stain wash time is extended with additional heating. StainSoak is similar to StainTreat II with the added feature of detergent and treatment mixing with the SmartBoost pump before the stain washing phase.
Wrinkling and sorting
Electrolux lists overloading, incorrect wash cycle for the load and washing repeatedly in overly hot water as causes of wrinkling, with the fixes of reducing the load, rinsing in cold water with liquid softener using the casual or delicate cycle, and removing items promptly. Avoid mixing heavy items such as work clothes with light items such as blouses for the same reason.
Preventing clean-washer buildup
Every 50 cycles the washer lights the clean washer indicator to remind you to run the clean washer cycle. Skipping it lets residue accumulate in the drum, gasket and dispenser, which dulls washing results and adds odor. The cycle needs an empty drum and one cup of liquid chlorine bleach or one pouch of Tide Washing Machine Cleaner, followed by a rinse and spin at max spin.
