GE PFW950 front-load washer will not fill with water or fills too slowly

GE PFW950 front-load washer will not fill with water or fills too slowly: verify both water supplies, inlet screens, hose routing and the selected cycle before treating the inlet valves or pressure system as failed. Scoped to PFW950S*.

If water does not enter a GE Profile PFW950 or enters slowly, GE's troubleshooting table lists the checks: the water supply is off (turn both faucets fully on), the water valve screens are stopped up (turn off the water, remove the hoses from the upper back of the washer and clean the screens with a brush or toothpick), the inlet hose screen washers are stopped up (remove the inlet hoses from the wall faucets and clean the screens in their ends), the fill hoses are kinked, the pump filter is clogged, or the door is open, since all functions including filling stop if the door is opened. The display message H2O SUPPLY means water is not entering the washer and starts a 4 minute lock-out.

Model-specific

What is true of this model and not of its siblings

Consumer Help Indicator lock-outs
GE's Consumer Help Indicator messages scroll on the display when you return to start another load. H2O SUPPLY and CAnCELEd each start a 4 minute lock-out period in which the controls do not respond or change, and unplugging the washer to bypass it restarts the timer. CAnCELEd appears if the machine was paused for longer than 24 hours or stopped itself before the cycle completed due to certain errors.
Energy efficiency and temperatures
GE notes it is an energy-efficient washer and the temperature settings may differ from a non-energy-efficient washer. Insufficient water supply is the other named cause of a slow fill: make sure the water supply is on and the faucets are turned to their completely open position. Both hoses must be attached and the door closed for the fill to run.
