My MacBook Air M2 only supports one external monitor.+

That is a hardware limit of the base M2 chip — the M2 MacBook Air can drive only one external display at a time (plus its built-in screen), so a second external simply will not get a picture. It is documented, not a fault. Workarounds are a DisplayLink-based dock (which adds displays over USB using software) or mirroring. Higher chips (M-series Pro/Max) and later Airs support more external displays.
