Which units this covers, and how to tell yours is one of them
Every answer below is scoped to these model identifiers. A neighbouring model in the same line can use a different part, a different reset sequence or a different radio, so matching the identifier before following a procedure is the step that decides whether the rest of the page applies to you.

- What that covers
- ASUS PC; full model code determines BIOS, GPU mode, USB-C video, charger and driver package.
- Not applicable to this hardware
- This ASUS ROG Ally X handheld does not have the hardware for: keyboard or trackpad is not working correctly; camera or microphone is not working in calls. Those symptoms have no page here for this model rather than a page that guesses.

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it
These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.
- Type — Windows 11 HANDHELD gaming PC
- This is NOT a laptop — the ROG Ally X is a handheld gaming PC: a Windows 11 computer with a built-in 7-inch touchscreen and game controls (sticks, buttons, triggers), like a Steam Deck but running full Windows. So it has controller/handheld symptoms plus normal Windows-PC symptoms.
- Windows on a handheld
- Because it runs full Windows (not a console OS), issues include Windows updates/drivers, launching games through Steam/Xbox/Armoury Crate SE, and the on-screen or attached keyboard for text. Armoury Crate SE is the game/controls hub.
- Battery & performance modes
- Battery life is short at high performance by design — use the lower TDP/performance modes and the charger for demanding games. It warms and its fan runs under load, which is normal.
- Power path
- Internal or removable battery. Every capability that costs current — night vision, higher stream quality, longer recordings, frequent events — is paid for in runtime, so a change in behaviour after a settings change is usually a power consequence rather than a fault. Cold weather reduces usable capacity sharply.

Exact questions
Questions that only have an answer for the ASUS ROG Ally X handheld
Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.
My ROG Ally X controls or games aren't working right.+
Because the Ally X is a Windows PC in handheld form, most issues are Windows/driver or launcher-related. Update Windows and the ASUS drivers/Armoury Crate SE (which manages the controls, performance modes and game library), make sure the game is launched through its store (Steam/Xbox) and set to controller input, and calibrate the sticks in Armoury Crate SE if aim drifts. For short battery life, lower the performance/TDP mode or plug in — high performance drains it fast by design.
Structured depth, not empty permutations
Every published record carries a direct answer, scope, ordered fixes, risk notes and sources.
