Genie chain and belt drive opener codes
Genie chain-drive and belt-drive openers report faults with the LED on the motor unit and the blink patterns of the wall console. The commonest causes are the safety sensors, wall control wires and the travel limits. For a door that will not close, align the sensors and check that nothing blocks them, then look at the wall control wires for damage.
If the limits are wrong, the door may stop or reverse. Clear and reprogramme the limits as the manual describes. Do not bypass the sensors, and leave springs and cables to a technician.
A chain or belt drive opener should run with the chain or belt snug but not tight, and a loud rattle may mean the chain is loose. The manual shows how to check the tension and how to lubricate the chain. If the opener hums but the door does not move, the trolley may have disengaged from the carriage, which a technician can reconnect. Test the auto-reverse by placing a board on the floor under the door; the door should reverse when it touches it.
Why won't my Genie opener close the door?
The safety sensors may be misaligned or blocked, or the wall control wires may be damaged.
How do I test the auto-reverse?
Place a board flat under the door; it should reverse on contact.
