- Official specificationsAXE5400 class: 6GHz 2,402Mbps + 5GHz 2,402Mbps + 2.4GHz 574Mbps. Three Gigabit WAN/LAN auto-sensing ports per unit. Supports up to 200 devices, 6 wireless streams. A 3-pack covers up to 7,200 sq ft (4-7+ bedroom homes).
- Wi-Fi 6E tri-band MESHA Wi-Fi 6E (AXE) Deco mesh adding 6 GHz. Note the 6 GHz band is often used as the dedicated backhaul, so client 6 GHz access may be limited by design. Units cover a large home; a weak room means a node is too far.
- Mesh backhaulA node offline/slow is usually wireless backhaul — place within range or wire it. It is 6E, not Wi-Fi 7.
- Managed by Deco app onlyManaged through the Deco app (no web admin).
- The 6 GHz band and backhaulOn many Deco 6E systems the 6 gigahertz band is dedicated to the backhaul between nodes, not offered to clients. A phone or a laptop that supports 6 gigahertz may therefore be unable to join a 6 gigahertz network on this system, by design.
- VPN and the DecoThe Deco passes VPN traffic from devices behind it. Whether it can host a VPN server depends on the model and the app, so check the app's features before planning one.
- The six-gigahertz bandThe XE75 adds Wi-Fi 6E, which uses the six-gigahertz band for compatible devices. That band is fast over a short distance but does not pass through walls well, so a device in another room may fall back to the other bands.
- Setting up a meshPlug the first unit into the modem, set it up in the Deco app, then add the other units one at a time.
- Parental controls and securityThe Deco app includes profiles, content filters and time limits. A device that suddenly cannot reach a site may be in a profile with a filter, and the first check is the profile in the app.

Exact questions
Questions that only have an answer for the TP-Link Deco XE75 mesh
Why can't my devices use the 6 GHz band on my Deco XE75?+
On many Deco 6E systems the 6 GHz band is dedicated to the mesh backhaul (the node-to-node link) rather than offered to client devices, so your phone or laptop may not be able to join a 6 GHz network even if it supports one — that is a design choice, not a fault. Client devices use the fast 5 GHz band while 6 GHz keeps the backhaul clear. Check the Deco app's band settings to see how 6 GHz is allocated on your system.
