Samsung Galaxy A35 5G will not connect to Wi-Fi or keeps disconnecting

Samsung Galaxy A35 5G will not connect to Wi-Fi or keeps disconnecting: one network, all networks, VPN/profile and radio hardware produce different fixes. Scoped to SM-A356*.

Wi-Fi on a Galaxy A35 is usually a router or setting matter, and the A35's own limits explain some complaints: it supports Wi-Fi 6 rather than the Wi-Fi 6E or 7 of the flagships, so a tri-band router that puts 6 GHz on its best name leaves the A35 on the older bands. If the phone connects and drops, forget the network and rejoin, turn off Intelligent Wi-Fi's switch to mobile data, and make the router's 5 GHz security WPA2/WPA3 mixed. After One UI 8.5, owners of Galaxy phones describe connectivity drops, so install the newest patch. If every network fails in Safe mode, the phone needs a check.

Try in this order

0 of 6 completed
  1. Restart the phone and the router

    Reversible

Switch the router off for two minutes and restart the A35, then wait for the router lights to settle before rejoining the network.

  2. Forget the network and join again

    Reversible

Settings, Connections, Wi-Fi, tap the gear beside the network, choose Forget, and join again with the password typed fresh.

  3. Turn off Intelligent Wi-Fi's mobile data switch

    Reversible

In the Wi-Fi screen open the three-dot menu, then Intelligent Wi-Fi, and switch off Switch to mobile data so the phone stops abandoning a working link.

  4. Put the router on WPA2/WPA3 mixed

    Reversible

In the router's admin page set the 5 GHz security to mixed WPA2/WPA3; some routers' WPA3-only mode leaves a Wi-Fi 6 phone with an authentication problem.

  5. Give the 5 GHz band its own name

    Reversible

If the router merges bands under one name, separate them and join the 5 GHz name, since the A35 cannot use the 6 GHz band that a tri-band router prefers.

  6. Reset network settings last

    Reset / data risk

Settings, General management, Reset, Reset network settings clears a corrupted profile but also forgets Wi-Fi and Bluetooth pairings.

Model-specific

What is true of this model and not of its siblings

The 6 GHz point
The Galaxy A35 has Wi-Fi 6, not 6E; a router that offers 6 GHz does not change what the A35 can reach, and a router that steers devices onto 6 GHz can leave it on the slowest band.
The One UI 8.5 context
Galaxy owners describe connectivity drops after One UI 8.5, so a drop that began with the update is worth reporting after the router checks.

Stop boundary

When this stops being a self-service repair

  • !If no network works in Safe mode, book a check
  • !If one network fails, ask the router maker
  • !If Wi-Fi will not switch on, restart then book service

Exact questions

Common questions

Why is my A35 slower on Wi-Fi than my newer phone?+

The A35 uses Wi-Fi 6 on 2.4 and 5 GHz, so a newer phone on 6 GHz can be faster on the same router.

Should I put the router on WPA3 only?+

Mixed WPA2/WPA3 is safer for older phones.

What if every Wi-Fi network fails?+

Test in Safe mode and after a network reset; if it still fails, book a Samsung check.
