Account sync on the Galaxy S26+ covers the Google account for contacts, calendar and mail and the Samsung account for Gallery, Notes, Samsung Cloud and other services, and when something fails to update, the cause is a setting that stops background sync, an account that needs a fresh sign-in or a storage limit on the cloud. First work out which account and which data are failing. Open Settings, Accounts and backup, Manage accounts, tap the account and look at Sync account: each type of data has its own switch and a last-synced time, and Sync now forces an update.
The checks in more detail
If the time is old, the sync is blocked. Check that Settings, Connections shows a working Wi-Fi or mobile data link, and that Data saver is not blocking background data for the app. Power saving is the second commonest cause. In Settings, Battery, Background usage limits, look for apps in the sleeping or deep sleeping lists, and remove the sync app or the account's app from them. Set the app's battery use to Unrestricted for a test, which stops One UI putting it to sleep.
If you see a message that the account needs attention, remove the account and add it again; for the Samsung account, sign out and in again, and for Google, check the password and any two-step prompts. A password changed on another device invalidates the sign-in on this one. Storage is the third cause. Google's free storage is shared between Drive, Gmail and Photos, and Samsung Cloud has its own limits, so a full account stops new data from syncing; check the quota in the account's storage page and clear or buy space.
Check the date and time are automatic, since a wrong clock breaks sign-in. Update the software, because One UI 8.5 carried several fixes for background sync, and restart. If one app, such as Samsung Notes, will not sync while the account works, check that app's own sync switch and update it from the Galaxy Store. A factory reset is rarely necessary; back up first if you try it. Samsung Members and the account support pages can help with persistent failures.
