My Brother MFC-J1010DW sat unused and now won't print properly.+

Idle inkjets clog — the ink dries in the printhead nozzles, giving faded, streaky or blank output. Run the Print Head Cleaning from the menu two or three times, printing the check pattern to see improvement, and confirm the small cartridges are not empty. Severe clogs from long disuse may need several cleans (which use ink). To avoid it on a light-use printer like this, print a page every week or two. If a color never recovers, that cartridge or the head needs attention.
