Hisense R6 Roku TV family troubleshooting

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it

• Panel — full-array LED (entry)
  The R6 Series is an entry 4K LED TV with a full-array backlight (basic local dimming). It supports Dolby Vision and HDR10, but as an entry LED its brightness and contrast are modest; raised dark-room blacks are normal for the tier.
• Smart platform — ROKU TV (not Google TV)
  The R6 runs Roku OS built in, unlike Hisense's U-series and A7N which are Google TVs. Update at Settings › System › System update; Miracast and AirPlay 2 for mirroring; a Roku remote and app store. Use Roku-TV steps, not Google-TV ones.
• Refresh
  A 60 Hz panel (Motion Rate 120 is interpolation) with a Gaming Mode to reduce input lag, but no 4K 120 Hz or VRR.
• Size
  The 50-inch is 44.0 x 25.4 x 2.9 in without the stand. Roku runs the software.
• Roku TV model
  The Hisense R6 is a Roku TV, so the Roku operating system runs it. The label at the back lists the model, and Roku's Settings, System, About shows the version.
• Using the Roku remote
  The remote works through infrared or Wi-Fi Direct, depending on the generation. If it stops responding, replace the batteries and re-pair it from the Settings menu.
• Sound and inputs
  The HDMI ports are labeled on the side. Use the ARC port for a soundbar and enable HDMI-CEC, which Roku calls a system option.
• Channels and settings
  The Roku home screen lists channels. Add more from the Streaming Channels store. The Settings menu has a picture setting that you can adjust with the star button during playback.
• Network and updates
  If streaming stalls, check Settings, Network, Check connection. Roku updates automatically, and you can check by hand in Settings, System, System update.
• Warranty and mounting
  Keep the receipt for Hisense's warranty. Note the model and serial for support. The stand legs can be fitted at the corners or nearer the center for a smaller cabinet.
• Picture and sound
  The R6 is a Roku TV with a 4K panel. Use the options button on the remote to change the picture mode. Movie or Natural gives a more accurate picture than Vivid. For sound, connect a soundbar to the ARC port, and set Roku's audio output to match.
• Setting up and updating
  On first start, connect to the network, sign in to your Roku account and let the TV update. Roku TVs update on their own, but you can check in Settings, System, System update. After an update, restart the TV by unplugging it for a minute if an app misbehaves.
