• Panel — Mini-LED ULED QLED
  Hisense's 2024 flagship: a Mini-LED QLED (ULED) with more than 2,000 local-dimming zones and extreme peak brightness. A backlight, so a faint halo around bright objects and raised dark-room blacks are normal LCD behavior — but with this many zones it controls them very well.
• Smart platform — Google TV
  Runs Google TV (US models). Not Roku, unlike the Hisense R6.
• Gaming / HDMI
  Native 144 Hz with HDMI 2.1, VRR, ALLM and FreeSync Premium Pro (Game Mode Pro / 288 Hz booster). Supports Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG. Enable Game Mode for the input.
• What owners run into
  Reports include apps that crash, a picture that looks washed out in a mode that is not Game and a remote that stops responding.
• How to approach a fault
  Clear app caches, choose a suitable picture mode and update the TV.
• Finding your model
  The model number is on the label at the back and in Settings, System, About. Use it when you contact Hisense or look for software updates.
• Picture modes
  Choose Filmmaker or Theater for films and Game for consoles. Vivid is for showrooms and looks exaggerated at home. Each input stores its own picture settings.
• Gaming
  Use the HDMI 2.1 ports for 4K at 120 or 144 hertz and enable the full HDMI mode for the port. Switch on Game mode for low latency.
• Getting the best out of a mini-LED set
  The U8N is Hisense's brighter mini-LED television, and its picture depends on settings that are often left at the shop defaults. Choose Filmmaker or Theater mode for films, keep local dimming on a middle setting so that bright objects on dark backgrounds do not bloom and set the brightness for the room. If you play games, switch on game mode so that the TV drops processing for a lower delay, and check that the HDMI port you use is the one that supports the highest frame rate. A soundbar over eARC carries the sound from the TV's apps and sources, so check the port label and the audio format. Keep the TV in a ventilated spot and update the software for picture and audio fixes.
• When the picture or sound misbehaves
  Flicker, a dark patch or blooming can come from a firmware setting, so update and reset the picture settings before assuming a fault. A black screen with sound points to the wrong input or a power-saving mode. Unplug the TV for a minute to clear a stuck state. Keep the model and serial numbers from the back for Hisense, and note when the fault happens.
