Hisense TVs: Google TV and Roku TV problems

Hisense sells Google TV models such as the U6N and Roku TV models such as the R6, and the directory lists model pages. Owners report a picture that is dim or washed out, no sound through a soundbar, apps that crash and a remote that does not respond. The model pages give the checks.

For picture, use Movie mode and check the local dimming. For sound, use the ARC port and turn on HDMI-CEC. For apps, update the TV. For the remote, replace batteries and re-pair.

The model is on a label at the back. Hisense's support asks for it and the software version.

Hisense's televisions use Google TV, Roku TV or VIDAA depending on the series and year, so identify the platform first. The model number printed on the back, with the series letters, tells you which. Software updates, remote pairing and app stores all differ by platform. For picture quality, the Mini-LED and ULED sets have local dimming controls that change how blacks look, and a few minutes in the picture menu with a film you know well will help you choose a mode.

Hisense sets often come in several sizes of the same series, and the stand legs can be fitted in different positions to suit a soundbar or a narrow cabinet. If you wall mount the TV, check the weight and the VESA pattern in the manual and use a bracket rated for it. Allow a few centimetres around the set for air. Before you mount it, run through the picture and sound settings once while it is still within reach.

Hisense's sets range from budget models to Mini-LED ULED models, and the settings that matter most are the picture mode, the HDMI input format and the audio output. If the picture looks washed out from a console or a streamer, set the HDMI input to the enhanced format in the settings, since the default may limit the signal. If the sound is low, check the audio output and the volume of the soundbar separately.

The remote may need pairing again if it stops working. Replace the batteries, and hold the pairing button as the manual describes. The mobile app can serve as a remote. If the TV is slow, remove apps you do not use and restart it. Keep the software updated, and contact Hisense with the model and serial if a fault persists after a reset.
