Fitbit trackers and watches

Fitbit trackers sync to the Fitbit app on a phone over Bluetooth, and most problems come down to that link, to charging or to the strap and sensors. The Inspire 3 is a slim band with about ten days of battery, the Charge 5 adds a brighter display, GPS and stress tracking, and the Sense 2 is a watch with extra health sensors. They share the same app and account, so your history survives a change of phone.

When a tracker will not sync, open the app and pull down to sync, check that Bluetooth is on and that the app has permission to find nearby devices and to run in the background, and restart the tracker and the phone. When a tracker will not charge, clean the charging contacts and the charger with a dry cloth, seat the clip firmly and try another cable and adapter. A dark screen after a long gap usually needs a few minutes on the charger before it wakes.

Heart-rate gaps and odd readings are often caused by a strap that is too loose, too tight or wet, so wear the tracker a finger's width above the wrist bone and clean the back of the case. Notifications that do not arrive point to the phone's notification and background settings. Before a reset or a change of device, check that the data you care about has synced, then follow Fitbit's own steps to restart or factory reset the tracker.
