Check your water hardness, since above a moderate level, a dishwasher needs help from a softener or a dishwasher salt if your model has a softener, and from the right detergent. Check the rinse aid. The dishwasher has a rinse aid dispenser, and an empty one leaves spots and cloudy glass and prevents drying; fill it with rinse aid and set the dial to a medium or high setting.

Use a good detergent in the right amount: too much leaves a film, too little leaves scale, and powder in hard water can leave residue, so try a different detergent or a tablet. Do not pre-rinse dishes to a spotless state, since the detergent needs some soil to work with and over-rinsing can etch glass. Load glasses so that the WaterWall bar can sweep them and do not block the arms. Then clean the dishwasher. The filter at the bottom collects food and, when clogged, causes spots, so remove and rinse it, and clean the spray arms.

Run a dishwasher cleaning cycle or a cycle with a cup of white vinegar on the top rack, or a dishwasher cleaner, monthly. Set the cycle: a heated dry and a hot final rinse help to avoid spots, and the AutoRelease Dry feature opens the door at the end to release steam, which is normal and reduces water spots. Check the water temperature entering the machine, which should be hot. If the machine still leaves cloudy dishes after these changes and the glasses are not etched, contact Samsung with the model and serial number.
