Samsung dishwashers: codes, leaks, cleaning and drying

A dishwasher that will not start has a door not latched, a child lock or no power. Dirty dishes point to a blocked spray bar or arm, a clogged filter or old detergent. Codes such as PE and PC concern the half load and zone wash functions, and Samsung says to run a normal cycle and request service if they persist. A leak needs the door seal, the hoses and the base checked.

The label with the model and serial is on the inside of the door. SmartThings pairs on 2.4 GHz. Use fresh detergent and rinse aid, clean the filter and run a cleaner monthly.

A Samsung dishwasher's smart features, such as the SmartThings link and the Auto Release door that opens at the end of the cycle to help drying, add a few things to check. If the door springs open early or does not open at all, look at the door's travel and the water level. If the app shows the dishwasher offline, restart it and the router. Run the Clean Washer cycle if the model offers it, and use the detergent amount on the pack rather than a handful, since oversudsing causes drain codes and cloudy glasses.

The WaterWall dishwasher, found on several Samsung models, replaces some spray arms with a bar that moves across the tub. Load it as the manual describes: tall items at the sides, plates facing the center, and nothing standing in the path of the bar. If the bar stops, a utensil or a lid has probably fallen into the gap. Remove the lower rack and look at the floor of the tub before you assume a fault. The bar and the arms are designed to be removable for cleaning.

If the dishwasher leaves a film, run a cleaner through it, check the dispenser for old detergent and use rinse aid. If water pools in the tub, clean the filter and the drain hose, and check that the sink drain is not blocked.
