Filter care
The V10's filter sits at the back of the machine. Wash it monthly with cold water only, squeeze it, and leave it to dry for twenty-four hours before refitting. Never use detergent or put it in a dishwasher.
Using the modes
The V10 offers three power modes, and a trigger to start and stop. The top mode empties the battery fastest. Use Auto or Eco on hard floors, and the top mode for deep carpet only when you need it.
Battery and runtime
The V10's battery lasts longer in the lowest mode and shorter in Max. Charge it fully and let it cool after heavy use before charging. A battery that runs for only a few minutes may be worn, and Dyson sells replacements for the model.
Common faults
A pulsing red light usually points to a blockage, a clogged filter or a hot motor. A rattle points to something in the head or bin. A whine means starved air. Work through the bin, the filter, the wand and the head in that order.
Parts and accessories
Dyson sells replacement brush bars, filters, wands and batteries for the V10, and the model name on the machine shows which fit. A crevice tool and a combination tool come in the box, and the mini motorised tool suits stairs and upholstery. Keep the tools on the dock or in a bag, since a missing tool is a common reason owners think the machine has lost suction.
