The green laser on my Dyson V12 doesn't show dust on my carpet.+

The laser is designed for hard floors, not carpet — it sits at a low angle to catch fine dust on smooth surfaces, and on carpet the fibers scatter it so it does not reveal dust the same way. That is expected, not a fault. Use the laser head on hard floors and the motorised head on carpet; the particle counter still works, and cleaning performance does not depend on the laser.
