- Type — cordless stick (battery)A CORDLESS STICK vacuum with a click-in, replaceable battery. Runtime depends heavily on mode: Boost/MAX drains the battery in minutes by design, so 'short runtime on MAX' is normal — Eco mode runs far longer. A vacuum that pulses/stops is usually a blocked airway (bin, filter, wand) triggering the protection, or a battery too hot/cold.
- Laser + piezo dust detectionThe V15 projects a green laser on the floor to reveal fine dust and counts particles on its LCD screen. If the laser/counts seem wrong, that is a detection feature, separate from suction; the laser only works on hard floors at a low angle.
- Filter & airwayOne washable lifetime filter — wash it monthly and let it dry fully (24 hours) before refitting; a damp or clogged filter causes suction loss and pulsing. Clear the wand, bin inlet and cyclone of blockages for 'no suction'.
- Piezo sensorIt sizes and counts dust particles at the inlet, which is what the LCD particle display shows.
- Filter washWash the filter at least once a month. It must be fully dry (at least 24 hours) before it goes back in.
- Blockage alertWhen it detects a blockage the motor pulses and will not run until the blockage is cleared (seven pulses per the on-screen guide). Low battery gives three pulses.

- The laser and the dust sensorThe Detect nozzle shines a green light across the floor to show fine dust, and a sensor counts the particles and shows them on the screen. A dim or unclear light is usually a dirty nozzle window, and wiping it with a dry soft cloth restores it, while the particle count changes with the room and is not a fault code.
- Battery behavior in the three modesEco, Auto and Boost trade run time for power, and Boost drains the battery fastest. If a vacuum that used to run for an hour now stops in ten minutes, check the mode first, then clean the filter and the brush bar, because a blockage makes the motor work harder and shortens the run.
- Washing the filterRinse the filter under cold water only, squeeze it gently and let it dry for at least a day before it goes back. A damp filter makes a smell and trips a loss of suction, and a filter that has not been cleaned for months reduces the power sharply.

My Dyson V15 keeps pulsing / stopping and starting.+
Pulsing is the V15 protecting itself, almost always from a blockage or a filter problem. Check the whole airway — empty the bin, wash the filter and let it dry a full 24 hours, and clear the wand, cleaner head and cyclone of hair and debris. A battery that is very hot or very cold also causes cut-outs; let it reach room temperature. On Boost/MAX the battery also simply runs down fast, which is normal, not a fault.
