What is true of this model and changes how you fix it
These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.
- Type — space-saving TOP-LOAD
- A smaller / space-saving GE TOP-LOAD washer (the GNW line is more compact than the full-size GTW). Its smaller tub means smaller loads — overloading a compact drum causes poor cleaning, unbalance and long cycles.
- Loading & water
- Identify agitator versus impeller for loading. HE low-water fill is normal; keep loads modest for a compact tub, and use any Deep Fill option for bulky items.
- Behaviour
- A lid that locks/closes for spin; a 'won't spin' is usually balance or the lid. Check the drain hose height if it drains during fill.
- Size class
- One of the smaller models in its line, which has a direct consequence: a smaller body holds a smaller battery, so its rated runtime is genuinely lower than its larger siblings. Runtime that looks poor beside a Max is usually this rather than a fault.

Questions that only have an answer for the GE GNW128 portable washer
Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.
My GE GNW128 doesn't handle big loads well.+
The GNW is a smaller, space-saving washer with a compact tub, so it is built for modest loads rather than large ones — overfilling it is the usual cause of poor cleaning, tangling and an unbalanced spin. Wash big or bulky items in smaller batches, balance the load in the tub, and it performs as intended. A compact machine cannot match a full-size 5-cu-ft washer's load size.
