• UltraFresh Vent + Microban

• UltraFresh Vent and Microban
  An UltraFresh vent fan airs the drum after each wash, and Microban is built into the gasket, dispenser and drain to fight odor. GE's answer to front-load smell works best when it is left enabled and the door is left ajar.
• Dynamic Balancing Technology
  The washer measures an unbalanced load and adjusts to keep the drum steady, which is why a load that would shake an older machine often runs quietly. It cannot cancel a floor that is unlevel or weak.
• SmartDispense and Wi-Fi
  SmartDispense doses detergent from a bulk reservoir by load size and the concentration setting you entered. If clothes seem under-cleaned, check the reservoir and the concentration setting.
• The drain-pump filter
  A drain-pump filter behind the lower panel handles most drain complaints before the pump itself.
• Finding GFW850 on the label
  The label is inside the door opening and shows GFW850 with the serial number; GE lists the full model as GFW850SSNWW.
• The GFW850 platform
  The GFW850 shares a platform with the GFW650, GFW550 and GFW510, so many of the routines for odor, drainage and shaking apply across all four. The GFW850 is the top of that range, with steam, Wi-Fi and the largest dispenser.
• Steam and Sanitize
  The steam cycle heats the drum for deeper cleaning, and the Sanitize options hold a higher temperature for longer. They run long by design, and a cycle that seems stuck during steam is usually heating.
