GE Advantium oven error codes
GE's Advantium ovens combine a microwave, a speedcook oven and a convection oven, and they show codes for sensors, the magnetron, the lamps and the control. This page lists the codes and what to check. Because the Advantium has several heat sources, the code often names which is at fault.
Write down the code and press Clear or Off. Switch off at the breaker for a minute. Check that the door closes and the latch is free. A sensor code may clear after a reset. Do not open the cabinet, since the microwave parts carry a dangerous charge. A code that returns needs a technician.
The model and serial are on a label on the oven frame. GE's support asks for both. Use the cookware the manual lists.
The Advantium oven cooks with halogen lamps and a microwave, so its lamps and a microwave magnetron can wear. If cooking is uneven or slow, note which mode you were using. The speedcook mode uses the halogen lamps, and a failed lamp gives pale food on that side. A technician can replace a lamp easily. Never run the microwave empty, and use only the cookware GE lists for each mode.
The Advantium is a GE oven that cooks with a combination of halogen light, a microwave magnetron and convection heat. Because it uses several heat sources, a code often names one of them, such as the lamps, the magnetron or a sensor. If food comes out pale on one side, a halogen lamp may have failed; if food is cold in the middle, the microwave may not be working. Describe the result to the technician along with the code.
The oven needs cookware that suits each mode: microwave-safe in microwave mode, and heat-resistant metal or glass in speedcook mode. Do not use metal in microwave mode, and keep the vent clear. After a power cut, the clock and some settings may reset. Do not run the oven empty, since the microwave can be damaged.
Because the Advantium contains a high-voltage circuit and a capacitor that can hold a charge, the cabinet should be opened only by a technician. Clean the cavity with a soft cloth and a mild cleaner, and wipe the door seal where grease collects. If a lamp has failed, a technician can replace it quickly; ask for the model number so that the right lamp is ordered.
