GE says Bad Line displays when power is applied to the unit but it has not been wired correctly.

Do not use the oven until the wiring is checked.

GE says to contact an installer or electrician to correct the mis-wire, and the oven will then function normally.

  • A tripped breaker on one leg: Bad Line shows and the oven will not work. iFixit says only one leg of a 240V circuit may trip, especially where two breakers are tied by a handle
  • A faulty power connection at the terminal block: The terminals look burned or loose, which points to a faulty power connection at the terminal block. iFixit says heat can oxidise or loosen the connection over time
  • Faulty wiring in the house: A junction box wire nut is discolored, which points to faulty wiring in the house. iFixit says a poorly made connection can heat and fail, often at a junction box or tap

Turn the breaker completely off for about 5 minutes and back on; if it trips again, suspect the wiring in the home or the appliance.

If the unit has a cord and plug, iFixit says you should read 240V between the two line connections and 120V from each line to the neutral.

With power off, look for burned or loose connections at the terminal block and cord, and tighten anything loose.

Have an electrician trace the circuit for burned wire or an overheated connection at junction boxes.

Disconnect power for 5 minutes and reconnect; if the error returns, continue.

With power off and the sensor disconnected, measure resistance; about 1,100 ohms at 77 degrees F is normal and iFixit says to replace it above 1,150 or below 1,050 ohms, or if any lead has continuity to the shell.

iFixit lists about 1,000 ohms at 32 degrees F, 1,100 at 77, 1,450 at 250 and 1,650 at 350 degrees F; resistance rises roughly 2 ohms per degree F.

Trace the sensor wires to the control; the board regards below 900 ohms as a short and above 2,900 ohms as open, so a corroded connector can read open, and a pinched wire or deformed connector can read shorted.

F3, F4.

GE says F350 usually means an issue with the upper cooling fan circuit, or an obstruction in the cooling fan.

Look for anything obstructing the cooling fan vents.

GE says a trained service technician should diagnose and correct the issue.

  • An upper cooling fan circuit problem: F350 shows and the fan does not run, which points to an upper cooling fan circuit problem. GE says the code usually means an issue with the upper cooling fan circuit
  • An obstruction in the cooling fan: Something blocks the fan blades, which points to an obstruction in the cooling fan. GE says there may be an obstruction in the cooling fan
  • A vent or fan path blocked by items: F350 appears after long cooking and something sits over the vent. Check nothing covers the vent and clear any obstruction once the oven is cool

Turn off the breaker for a minute or two and back on.

Run a bake cycle briefly and listen for the upper cooling fan.

If the fan does not run or the code returns, schedule a repair; an obstruction inside needs a technician to remove panels.

Should I keep using the oven with F350? No; the cooling fan protects the oven electronics, so stop using it until the fan runs.

GE says Unlock Door appears when the door will not unlock after a self-clean cycle.

Let the oven cool completely.

GE points to its guide on resetting the controls when an oven door will not unlock.

  • A door that did not unlock after self-clean: Unlock Door shows after a clean cycle, which points to a door that did not unlock after self-clean. GE says the code appears when the door will not unlock after a self clean cycle
  • A latch coated in baked-on residue: The door will not release and the latch area is sticky or crusted. Once the oven has cooled, wipe around the latch with a damp cloth
  • A one-off control fault after a power interruption: The door stays locked after an outage during the clean. Switch the breaker off for a minute, restore it and see whether the door releases

Once the oven has cooled after a Self-Clean cycle, approximately 30 to 90 minutes, try the door.

Disconnect power to the range for 30 seconds, then reconnect and see if the door unlatches.

If the door does not unlatch and nothing is inside, set Self-Clean for 1 to 2 hours, wait about 30 minutes and try the door.

After a self-clean the oven can stay locked until it has cooled well below cooking temperature, so wait longer before you assume a fault.
