Shark robot vacuum codes explained

Shark robot vacuums report trouble through numbered errors, a flashing light and a spoken message. On the RV2900 series, with PowerDetect and ThermaCharged, the two codes searchers reach for most are Error 4 and Error 6. Both are physical: something is stuck, and the robot stops because it cannot move or sense its way around.

Error 4, also shown as 46, is a brushroll motor error. Shark says there is a blockage in the brushroll compartment. Remove the brushroll door and the brushroll, take off the removable end cap, clear hair and thread, and make sure the roller spins freely a full turn in both directions when you put it back.

Error 6 is a bumper error. The front bumper or the LiDAR bumper may be jammed, which leaves the robot unable to sense what it hits. A flashing red Dock light is how this shows on the robot. Press the bumper in and out by hand and check for a pet hair mat or a bit of debris behind it.

Other RV2900 messages that people confuse with these include a wheel error, a wheel slip error and a message that the clean water tank is empty or missing. Match the number or the light to Shark's support list for your exact series before you act, because other Shark robots use the same numbers for different faults.
