Samsung Galaxy S22+ cannot make calls or send messages

Samsung Galaxy S22+ cannot make calls or send messages: carrier service, selected line, account activation, recipient-specific block and messaging service should be separated. Scoped to SM-S906*.

Calls and messages that fail on the Galaxy S22+ are usually settings or the SIM. Check Airplane mode and Do Not Disturb, and that the right SIM is set for calls and messages in Settings, Connections, SIM manager, since the S22+ takes two SIMs, a physical card and an eSIM. Check Wi-Fi calling in the Phone app's settings, because a call that fails at home may be using it.

The checks in more detail

For messages, open Samsung Messages or Google Messages and check that RCS chat is connected and the default SMS app is the one you expect, and clear the app's cache. One owner of the S22 series found that an old LTE SIM was the cause of delayed alerts and failed messages, solved with a new SIM from the carrier. A restart re-registers the phone on the network, and a network reset clears stored settings. If No service appears everywhere, the SIM or the modem is the issue.

If calls to one person fail while others work, check whether the number is blocked in Phone, Settings, Block numbers, and ask the other person whether their carrier blocks your number. If every outgoing call fails with a message that the call could not be completed, the mobile plan, SIM or network is the first suspect. If you moved from another phone, the new S22+ may still have your messages in the old phone's app,

so check that Messages is the default SMS app and that your number is registered for RCS chat, which sometimes needs the SIM to be re-registered with your carrier before chats work. On a four-year-old phone, the SIM card itself may be the weak link; carriers have replaced old SIM designs, and a card from the time of purchase may not support newer network features, so a free replacement is worth asking for.
