Samsung Galaxy S22+ will not charge or charges slowly

Samsung Galaxy S22+ will not charge or charges slowly: power source, cable/adapter, port debris/liquid, temperature and battery protection should be separated. Scoped to SM-S906*.

The Galaxy S22+ is sold with 45 W Super Fast Charging, but 9to5Google's test found it barely beats a 25 W charger: about 64 percent after thirty minutes on 45 W against 62 percent on 25 W, with a full charge in about an hour either way. So an S22+ that charges at a rate that seems slow may be behaving normally, and the question is whether it charges at all. For a phone that will not charge, test the cable and a Samsung charger, then clean the USB-C port of lint.

The checks in more detail

DroidWin's guide adds that Fast charging must be on in Settings, Battery and device care, Battery, Charging settings, and that heavy use, a case or heat slow charging. A 45 W charger needs a cable rated for 5 A, and a cheap cable limits it. After a software update some owners saw slower charging, and a restart or a cache wipe cleared it. If charging stops at a set level, check Protect battery, which limits the charge to 85 percent.

The phone's own screen tells you the charging speed when you wake it: Super fast charging, Fast charging or Charging, and the estimated time to full, so check the text and compare it with your charger's rating. If it says only Charging with a 45 W charger, the cable or the charger's USB PD profile is the issue. The S22+ has a feature Samsung calls Adaptive charging for overnight use in newer One UI versions, which slows the final part of the charge to protect the cell,

and the phone's charging notice may state that charging will complete later; this is not a fault. If you want a full charge fast, turn off Battery protection and Adaptive charging in Charging settings for that day. The S22+ also has a 45 W Super Fast Charging 2.0 mode that needs a 45 W PD PPS charger and the right cable, and many 25 W chargers will still work but more slowly. Check the charger's label for PPS support before blaming the phone.
