ADT Keypad, Keychain Remote and Yale Assure Lock 2 will not reset or needs to be reset safely

ADT Keypad, Keychain Remote and Yale Assure Lock 2 will not reset or needs to be reset safely: ownership, automations, codes, recordings and physical access consequences must be recorded first. Scoped to SKP5R0-01.

ADT resets keypads, fobs and locks by removing and re-adding them. In the ADT+ app choose the menu, Devices, select the device, Remove Device and confirm, then add it again; the remove and add article explains that a device reset while paired must be removed from the account and set up as new. For a Z-Wave lock, remove it with exclusion mode: Devices, select the device, Remove, and follow the manufacturer's steps;

The checks in more detail

if the device is unavailable use failed device removal or General Exclusion in the Base's Advanced Settings. The Yale lock article covers its programming code and removing user codes: press the Passage button until the number 1 and the Gear icon light, enter the programming code and the Gear icon, press 2 then the Gear icon, press 3 then the Gear icon, enter the code to remove and press the Gear icon,

or enter 00 to remove all user codes, which does not remove the programming code, then press the check to exit. Note codes before removing. The Keypad can be removed with its Release Key for service. After resetting, test in Test Mode and keep a physical key for the lock. If a device will not re-add, contact ADT chat. Photograph your lock codes list before removing anything and keep it private.

After a reset give the device a moment before adding it. Avoid resetting when you cannot open the door another way. Removing all user codes with 00 leaves the programming code, so if you also need to change that, follow ADT's steps to create a new one. Test the lock from inside and outside after re-adding, with the door open first, so you are never locked out during a check.
