What is true of this model and changes how you fix it
- Panel — QLED, no Mini-LEDThe 5-Series S555 is a QLED with a conventional LED backlight and basic local dimming — good color, but weaker contrast control than the Mini-LED 6-Series/QM models, so more blooming and raised dark-room blacks. That is the tier, not a fault.
- Smart platform — ROKU TVRuns Roku OS built in. Update at Settings › System › System update; Miracast and AirPlay 2 for mirroring; a Roku remote and app store. Not Google TV.
- Refresh — 60HzA native 60 Hz panel with HDMI 2.0-class inputs — no 4K 120 Hz or VRR. It supports Dolby Vision for HDR, but high-refresh gaming is not part of this model.
- Sizes50, 55, 65 and 75 inches (50S555, 55S555, 65S555, 75S555). Roku is the smart platform.
- Where the label isThe 5-Series S555 has its model and serial on a label at the rear, near the HDMI ports. TCL's support is organized by the series and size, and the number helps match the right download.
- Setting up Google TVChoose a profile, sign in to Google and install the apps you use. The remote's Google Assistant button handles voice searches. Adjust picture modes under Settings, Display and sound.
- CarePlace the TV with its vents clear, avoid cleaning the screen with liquids sprayed directly on it and update the software now and then.
- Picture and soundThe 5-Series gives a good picture in Movie mode, and the speakers are modest, so a soundbar helps. Connect it to the ARC port and select it as the audio output. Set the picture to Movie for films.
- StreamingGoogle TV lists services in rows. Use the voice button to search by title. A remote that is slow may need new batteries. Restart the TV if apps freeze.
- Warranty and mountingMount the S555 on a bracket rated for its weight and the VESA pattern in the manual, or use the stand legs. Keep the receipt for the warranty, and note the model and serial for support.
- Picture settingsThe S555 is a QLED set with local dimming controls. In a dark room, Movie mode with a low backlight gives the best result for films. In a bright room, raise the backlight and turn off any energy saving that dims the picture. Game mode is available for consoles, and it reduces the processing that adds delay.
- Network and updatesThe set joins 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. If streaming stutters, move the router closer, or connect the TV by cable if the model has a port. Update the software in Settings, System, Software update, and restart the TV after a large update.

Questions that only have an answer for the TCL 5-Series Roku TV S555
Can the TCL 5-Series S555 do 120Hz?+
No. The 5-Series S555 is a 60 Hz Roku TV without HDMI 2.1, so it cannot do 4K 120 Hz or VRR — those features are on the 6-Series and QM-series. It still supports Dolby Vision for HDR. Being a Roku TV, it updates and installs apps through Roku, not Google TV.
