What is true of this model and changes how you fix it

• Panel — entry QLED
  2024 entry QLED with limited or no local dimming — good color from the quantum-dot layer, but a backlight with weaker contrast control, so raised dark-room blacks and blooming are more visible than on the Q7/QM-series. That is the tier, not a defect.
• Smart platform — Google TV
  Google TV. Not a Roku TV.
• Refresh — 60Hz native, no VRR high-refresh
  The Q6 is a native 60 Hz panel (any '120Hz' figure is motion interpolation). It does not do 4K 120 Hz or true VRR — a request for those is a hardware limit, not a setting. It still supports Dolby Vision for HDR.
• Sizes
  55 to 85 inches.
• Which Q6
  TCL's Q6 is an entry-level QLED Google TV. The model label at the back shows the full code, and the size. Support pages for TCL are organized by series, so mention Q6 and the screen size.
• Picture and ports
  A Q6 offers a 60 Hz panel with HDMI 2.0 ports. It suits streaming and 60 Hz gaming, but a console that outputs 120 Hz is limited. Set the console to 4K at 60 Hz for the best result.
• Everyday care
  Keep the vents free, avoid placing the set above a heater and clean the screen with a dry microfibre cloth. A remote that stops working may need new batteries or re-pairing from Settings.
• Choosing settings
  A Q6 gives a decent picture with Movie mode, and a brighter one in Standard. Turn off energy saving options that lower brightness. For games, enable Game mode and set the console to 60 Hz.
• Remote and apps
  The remote may need batteries, and the voice button works with Google Assistant. Apps can be added from the store. If an app crashes, clear its cache from Settings, Apps.
• A Google TV at a modest price
  The Q6 is TCL's mid-range set with a quantum-dot film and Google TV. The apps come through the Google account, and a slow home screen is helped by removing unused apps and keeping the TV updated, since the set has less memory than a dearer model.
• Local dimming and blooming
  The set has a small number of dimming zones, so a bright object on a dark background shows a halo and black areas look gray in a dark room. The local dimming option in the picture menu balances the two, and a lower backlight in a dark room reduces the effect.
• Remote and voice
  The remote has a button for the voice assistant and one for the apps. If it stops working, take out the batteries for a minute, replace them and re-pair it from the menu if the TV prompts you.
