Panel — Mini-LED QLED
The 6-Series R646 is a Mini-LED QLED with local dimming — a backlight, so some blooming is normal but well controlled. Strong picture for its generation.
Smart platform — GOOGLE TV (not Roku)
Despite being a 6-Series like the Roku R655, the R646 runs GOOGLE TV. This is the trap: the two 6-Series models use different operating systems, so confirm which one you have before following any smart-TV steps.
Gaming / HDMI
A 120 Hz panel with HDMI 2.1 for 4K 120 Hz, VRR and ALLM. Supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. Enable Game Mode for the input.
Feet and mic
The 65-inch's feet can be fitted at the far ends of the TV or toward the center for a narrow media stand. The built-in microphone for Google Assistant can be switched off with a switch on the back below the input bay.
Google TV on the R646
The R646 is a TCL 6-Series with Google TV. It lists apps in a row, and a Google account ties your watchlist across devices. Use the Settings gear at the top right for picture, sound and network options.
Model label
The label on the back shows the model, serial and manufacturing date. TCL's support asks for them. A photo taken before mounting avoids a difficult reading later.
Sound
The built-in speakers are modest. A soundbar on the eARC port gives better dialogue. Check Settings, Display and sound, Audio output to choose it.
Updating and apps
Open Settings, System, Software update to check for an update. Apps update automatically, and you can force an update from the Play Store's My apps. A Google TV that is slow should have unused apps removed.
Picture options
The R646 has Movie, Standard and other modes, with settings for Dolby Vision where the content supports it. A dim picture in a bright room may need the backlight raised. Game mode helps with input lag.
